A native North Carolinian, Alex Megan Schell graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University with a BFA in Dance Performance in 2010. During the summer of 2009, Alex was selected to attend the Salzburg Academy of Experimental Dance and spent six weeks training in Austria with movers and performers from all around the world. Since her graduation, she has had the opportunity to dance with Naomi Goldberg Haas/Dances for a Variable Population, the A.O. Movement Collective (under the direction of Sarah Rosner), Ani Javian, MATYCHAK (under the direction of Nathalie Matychak), and the Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theater, and has performed at various venues including the Joyce SoHo, HERE Arts Center, the Highline, Joe’s Pub, Washington Square Park, the Skirball Performing Arts Center, and the Ellen Stewart Theater at La MaMa. Alex is also pursuing a career in acting, and has performed in and choreographed several music videos and short films. Most recently, she was cast in her first feature film which will be released in 2013. In addition to her performance background, Alex is a certified Mind Body DancerR yoga instructor and teaches in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
